Every service has one base pricing type. It decides what the customer is asked on the booking form and how the starting price is worked out, before any add-ons, surcharges or discounts are applied on top.
Each service on your Services list carries its own pricing type, price and duration.

The six pricing types
| Type | How the price is set |
|---|---|
| Flat price | One price for the whole job, e.g. "$250 mulch installation". Most one-time, standard-scope services use this. |
| By size/type | You write a plain-language sizing question (e.g. "What size is your yard?") and a flat price for each band the customer can pick, such as Small, Medium, Large. The price is exactly what you set for that band, not a formula. |
| Per item | You write a count question (e.g. "How many trash bins should we clean?"), a unit label and a rate per unit. The price is the rate times the count the customer enters, with an optional minimum charge. |
| By measurement | A rate times the square feet or linear feet the customer enters, with a minimum measurement. Use it only when customers actually know their own measurement - otherwise By size/type usually works better. |
| Hourly | A rate times the hours you set, with an optional minimum number of hours. |
| Rental (daily) | A rate times the number of days rented, with a minimum number of days - for equipment or dumpster-rental-style services. |
Pricing & Duration: pick the pricing type, then the rate, minimum and duration that go with it.
Picking By measurement adds one more choice: whether the measurement is Square feet or Linear feet. Everything else about that pricing type - the rate field, the minimum field - is shared between the two.
Cap on the computed price
Every pricing type can carry a maximum charge on the Pricing & Duration tab: a ceiling the computed price is never allowed to cross, applied after everything else (options, surcharges, add-ons) has already been added. It protects against an unusually large or heavily modified job pricing higher than a number you are comfortable charging online.
Choosing between them
- Know the exact scope every time, no matter the size: Flat price.
- Price really depends on which size or category the job falls into, and you would rather set a price per band than trust a formula: By size/type.
- Price is driven by a count the customer can tell you without measuring anything: Per item.
- Customers can and do know their own square footage or linear footage: By measurement.
- You are billing for time on site rather than a fixed scope: Hourly.
- You are renting out equipment or a unit for a number of days: Rental (daily).
