Measure a property on an estimate line

Draw a shape on a satellite map to get a square-footage or linear-footage number straight into an estimate line, without a tape measure.

A per-square-foot or per-linear-foot line needs a real measurement. Instead of asking the customer or estimating by eye, you can measure the property on a satellite map from inside the estimate builder.

Estimates › New Estimate or Edit Estimate › Measure (ruler icon) on a line

How it works

  1. Open the measurement tool from a line item. It suggests a category based on the service name - lawn, roofing, siding, hardscape, or general.
  2. Search the property's address. The map centers and zooms to it automatically.
  3. Draw the area: tap each corner point on the satellite image, then Finish shape. For a length instead of an area, switch to the Length tool and tap along the edge.
  4. Draw more than one shape if the job covers separate areas - a front lawn and a back lawn, for example - and they add together.
  5. Apply the measurement. The total drops straight into the square footage or linear footage field on that line.

Category-specific adjustments

CategoryWhat it adjusts
RoofingAsks for the roof pitch and applies a pitch factor, since a sloped roof has more surface area than its flat footprint.
SidingAsks for the number of stories and applies a story-height multiplier to the drawn footprint.
Lawn / HardscapeLists each drawn shape separately so you can check or remove one before applying.

Why measure instead of guess

A square-foot or linear-foot line is only as accurate as the number behind it. Measuring from the map before you price the line means the customer's total reflects the real size of the job, not a rough guess that has to be corrected later.
