Dispatch: assigning jobs to your team

Use the Dispatch timeline to see one day across your whole crew, drag jobs between technicians, and let Servetic suggest the best fit.

Jobs › Dispatch

Dispatch shows one day at a time as a timeline with one row per active employee, plus an Unassigned row. Each visit that has a scheduled time is drawn as a block positioned and sized by that time and the service's duration, so it is easy to see at a glance who is busy when.

Using the board

  1. Open Jobs, then Dispatch.
  2. Use the date field, or the arrows either side of it, to pick a day. Today jumps back to the current date.
  3. Search by customer, service or address, or filter by status, to narrow the rows shown.
  4. Drag a job's block from one technician's row to another to reassign it. This changes who is assigned; it does not change the time.
  5. Select the pencil icon on a job to open its edit panel and set an exact time or technician instead of dragging.

Time conflicts

If two of a technician's visits on the same day overlap in time, both are flagged as a scheduling conflict and a count of conflicts is shown at the top of the board. Saving a new time or technician for a visit is also blocked if it would overlap another visit already assigned to that person, with a message naming the job it collides with.

Letting Servetic suggest who to assign

From a job's own page, Assign crew opens an assignment panel that ranks your active employees for that specific job and shows a reason for each one's position.

FactorWhat it looks at
SkillHow well the employee's profile matches what the job needs.
AvailabilityWhether the employee is scheduled to work that day, how much open time they have, and whether the job's time slot is already taken or outside their hours.
ProximityThe straight-line distance from the job to the employee's nearest other job that day, when both addresses are geocoded.

These three factors are blended into one score per employee (weighted toward skill and availability, with proximity added when it is known), and the list is sorted highest score first. An employee is never marked down for a missing address; the weight that would have gone to proximity is simply given to skill and availability instead.
