Assigning jobs to employees

Assign a technician from the job's Assign crew dialog or the dispatch board, add helpers, and see ranked suggestions by skill, distance and availability.

Every job has one primary technician who owns the visit, and can have any number of helpers added alongside them. You can assign from a single job, or from the dispatch board when you're planning a whole day.

Assign from a job

Jobs › open a job › Assign crew

  1. Open a job and choose Assign crew. The dialog explains: "Choose a team member for this visit. Availability and skills are shown below."
  2. Pick the primary technician from Assign Employee. Assigning someone moves a Pending job to Scheduled automatically.
  3. Optionally add one or more helpers from the Add a helper… dropdown, then choose Add helper. Helpers don't change who owns the visit — you can remove one any time with the X on their chip.
  4. Close the dialog. The change is reflected on the job immediately.

How suggestions are ranked

The Team availability list under the picker ranks your active employees by a composite match score built from three things, shown per candidate:

FactorWhat it checks
SkillWhether the employee is assigned to the service this job needs, and whether it's marked as their primary skill.
ProximityStraight-line distance from the job's address to the nearest other job already on that employee's schedule that day, when both have coordinates.
AvailabilityTheir schedule for that day of the week (falling back to a default 9–5 workday if none is set) checked against jobs already booked for them, so a scheduling conflict is flagged rather than hidden.

Each employee in the dropdown shows their availability (Available, Busy or Schedule unknown) and match percentage, so you can compare candidates at a glance instead of opening each one's calendar.

Equipment conflicts

If a job has equipment attached (from Settings, Equipment & Vehicles), the assignment view flags that equipment in red when it's already booked on another job at an overlapping time that same day — the same double-booking check used for people, applied to gear.

Assign a whole day: the dispatch board

The dispatch board shows a per-technician timeline for one day, with jobs positioned and sized by their scheduled time and duration, and gaps or overlaps highlighted. Drag a job card onto a different technician's row to reassign it, or onto a different time slot to reschedule it — a conflict banner ("Resolve overlapping assignments before dispatching") appears if the move creates a clash. Unassigned jobs sit in their own row until you drag them onto someone.
